My “Hawaiian Lady” tattoo

A few years ago I got some music notes and a star tattooed on my wrist. Over time it has blurred and faded and just looks a real mess. I have often contemplated what I would get to cover it up and over the last 6 months or so have thought about a Hawaiian themed tattoo.

I have never been to Hawaii. It is on the top of my bucket list. I have been drawn to the islands for as long as I can remember. We have a Hawaiian themed Tiki kitchen in our house. I collect books and pictures on Hawaii and have various Hawaiian themed items in my dressing room. I have to go there. I need to go there and soak up all the magic it has to offer. The idyllic colours of the mountains against the ocean pulls me there. I need to stand on the beach, feel the breeze on my skin and smell the tropical flowers. I will make it happen!

I have always been a very spiritual person and over the past few months I have gone back to further exploring my spiritual side. I like to live a life full of light, love and laughter. I try to put as much positivity out there as I can and stay clear of any negativity. I am all about nature and living in harmony with our animal kingdom and fellow human beings. The Hawaiian beliefs and concept of the Aloha Spirit reflect how I live my life so I thought a tattoo of a Hawaiian Goddess would be quite fitting. Laka is the Goddess of the Hula, forest and love. Her symbols are flowers, yellow and dance.

Below are some images of the process. There are still some hours to go until she is finished as intense colour work is a longer process when tattooing but she will be worth the pain and the wait! She is being brought to life by my fabulous friend Kat of S27 Inkorporated.
